Illustrator Lora Lee and author David Tang have teamed up to create the beautiful new book, A New Friend for Sally, a children’s book that explores the unlikely but lasting relationship between a young girl and her new pet hen.
From the book’s Kickstarter campaign: “A New Friend for Sally tells the story of a cheerful little girl that, because she lives on a farm, doesn’t have any friends. One day her dad heads into the city and Sally asks that he bring home an animal for her to play with. Unfortunately, instead of picking something cute like a pony, her dad brings home a chicken … the one animal that (SPOILER!) Sally’s terrified of! What follows is a heartwarming story about friendship and acceptance with the lesson to not judge a book by its cover.”
Kickstarter campaigns have given many new artists, authors and producers a chance to realize their dreams. We here at Community Chickens love the idea of helping, and in the process, bringing into being a wonderful, beautifully-illustrated book for future generations of chickenthusiasts!
But this book won’t exist without your help!
Be a part of history and help bring this book into homes across the country by donating to the project. Every little bit counts! Donations also come with incremental rewards (like free signed prints, free ebook versions, etc.). For more information, visit their Kickstarter campaign page.
And just marvel at some of the gorgeous illustrations!
