Three years ago, after we had just celebrated World Egg Day, I got to wondering, ” Why didn’t we have a day to celebrate chickens?” Over the years, I have truly come to appreciate all of the wonderful things that backyard chickens have provided to myself and my family. In fact, I’ve started to keep a job description for them!

It was settled, every year on November 5th, Hug a Chicken Day™ would would celebrate our flocks and folks across the world would join in the celebration. All would be invited to attend. I could not wait to see people across the globe hugging and posting their pictures on the Facebook event page. This year we are at it again and I hope you too will consider attending this year. I think we might even just set some sort of world record! I hope to see you there, hugging a member of your flock!
